Frequently Asked Questions

 Scheduling & Appointments

  • The advantage of booking online is that you can complete your intake and consent forms at the same time.

Your information gives us a chance to begin planning your session and consult with your PT or healthcare practitioner if need be to make sure our work together will be safe and beneficial.

  • Any information you share is held in the strictest confidence by law.

It is never shared with anyone or any third party, ever.

  • CHM requires that both Intake and Consent forms are completed prior to your receiving work.

For your safety, we cannot treat you without them.

  • CHM is a small private practice, so it is often the case that we are fully booked several weeks or more in advance. If you don't see a day or time availability that works for you, it’s a good idea to check back often as cancellations and rescheduling do occur.

You can also email or text your scheduling preferences to us, so we can place you on our waitlist for those times.

  • Unfortunately, your session is non-transferrable, however charitable the impulse. CHM maintains a waitlist that we draw on when appointments are canceled or rescheduled.

Giving your session to someone denies clients on the waitlist an opportunity to receive treatment.

Payment

  • Our preferred payment method is Zelle.

You may alternatively pay using the credit card you used to book your appointment should you wish.

    We also accept Venmo.

    Checks are fine as well.

  • Tipping is not expected for Neil, the owner and founder of CHM.

For our associate therapist Rafya, a tip is entirely at your discretion.

  • CHM does not accept insurance, and all sessions must be paid at the time of treatment.

We can, however, provide you with a detailed invoice for medical massage which you may submit for possible reimbursement.

Check with your carrier to make sure reimbursement is an option for you.

  • You may use a credit card-based FSA/HSA to pay for your sessions.

You will, however, need to check with your provider to make sure massage therapy is covered under your plan.

Session Info

  • The best preparation is time.

Giving yourself the time and space to transition from your day to your session will help you get the most out of it.

Make sure to give yourself plenty of arrival time so we can begin on time, and reach out if you are feeling ill or have any conflicts.

  • We’ll hold your session for up to twenty minutes.

If you arrive within twenty minutes, you may still receive work in the time remaining.

After twenty minutes, however, your session will be canceled and you will be charged for the full session.

For more information, please see our full cancellation policy.

  • We can help you determine an appropriate interval for your sessions based on the nature of the issue(s) you present with, what your goals are for therapy, and how responsive you are to it.

For example, if we’re working on a specific issue, we may group your initial sessions closer together to address it, and then move to a longer “maintenance” interval once we witness sustained improvement.

  • You may undress to your level of comfort, meaning you may leave underwear on or off.

You will be fully draped except for the area we are working on.

Your ability to receive our work is directly related to your comfort on the table.

We’ll work with you to make certain you feel safe and secure throughout your session.

  • Working as a team with an integrative approach is always a good idea!

With your consent, we’re happy to consult with other caregivers to ensure continuity of treatment and results.

  • While we work with depth and specificity to provide you with lasting relief from dysfunction and pain, we approach deep tissue in a sequential and layered manner to minimize discomfort and produce release and relief.

Any pain or discomfort you experience should necessarily feel productive. More is not better in massage therapy. The right amount is better.
