Classic Swedish Massage Therapy
Restorative, Rejuvenating,
Resilience Building
When most people think of massage, they think Swedish. Lighter in touch and less structurally specific, Swedish Massage therapy at Carnegie Hill Massage Therapy incorporates long, soothing strokes and gentle stretches which relax and lengthen muscle, quiet the nervous system, and enhance circulation. Swedish massage has been found to be an effective tool in managing the symptoms of stress related conditions like anxiety and depression.

Certified Prenatal
Massage Therapy
Caring For Both Of You
Certified Pre-Natal Massage improves the overall prenatal health for many pregnant women. With the guidance of your prenatal care provider, massage therapy can be incorporated into routine prenatal care as a complimentary physical and energetic health tool shown to improve pregnancy outcome and maternal health. Massage therapy for the childbearing cycle alleviates the stress and discomfort caused by the postural changes, muscle tension, weakness and fatigue particular to each stage of pregnancy, including the postpartum period.

Studies have shown that women who receive prenatal massage manifest significantly lower levels of stress hormones (cortisol and norepinephrine) and increased levels of serotonin and dopamine. These changes have been correlated to fewer birth complications and fewer instances of newborn complications such as low birth weight. Prenatal massage can also be an effective tool in reducing edema associated with pregnancy and the reduction of nerve pain, particularly in the sciatic nerve. As with any therapeutic approach to pregnancy wellness, expectant women should consult with their prenatal care provider before proceeding.
Postpartum Massage has likewise been shown to be an effective tool for speeding recovery and adds welcome value in the transition to your new maternal role. The benefits of Postpartum Massage include relaxation and stress reduction, pain relief, hormone regulation, decreased swelling/edema, better sleep, and improved breastfeeding.

Myofascial Release
Therapy
Open It All Up
Myofascial Release Therapy addresses restrictions in the continuous web of connective tissue that wraps, supports, and separates muscle throughout the body. Deep, prolonged "strain/counterstrain" strokes engage and elongate the underlying fascia, relieving restrictions and adhesions that can impair function, range of motion, and mobility. Myofascial Release Therapy is slow, deep, and delivered without the application of oil to the skin. Because of the slower temporal nature and specificity of the work, myofascial release is typical a not full body experience, but focuses on a specific or fascial pathway.
